Hawaii. 27th August 2019

Our first week has gone by already. Not a lot going on but go out every morning for about three hours walking and shopping. Walked about 26km in total  so far,not as much as previous years.Back for lunch then down for a couple of swims but can't be on the beach for too long as the heat isn't agreeing with me so much this year. They say it's the hottest August and you can certainly feel it after previous years. Also we are here earlier than usual.
The US tennis open has now started so will be watching the odd game but not too much.

Our view looking from our balcony across the boat harbour. We are two floors lower than last year.

Looking straight down from the balcony

Just another sunset.

Standing in the kitchen looking out with the double view with the mirrored wall.

So nice sitting on the balcony watching this view. Best part of the day still very warm but not too hot.

Now here's a new photo from previous years looking down the canal we walk over nearly every morning between our hotel and Ala Moana  Shopping complex. One day I would like to walk along the banks of the Canal through a green area on the left. Would be nice and shady. Perhaps tomorrow.!

This one is for you Tayla. The Hawaiian dancing girls dressed like you were at your 5th birthday party.

The Friday night fireworks on the beach in front of the Hilton Hotel.

Cruise ship leaving the port of Honolulu.

That's all for now as I said earlier not writing much this holiday but we seem to be busy every day.

Ilikau Hotel, Hawaii. 21st --22nd August, 2019.

Left Auckland shortly after mid night. Good flight over in our usual seats  below.

Fortunately they were very fast dishing up the mid night snack, especially being in the first row helps. We managed to settle down to sleep after one and half hours once in the air. I slept really well waking up for the delivery of breakfast. Had my breakfast and dropped off to sleep again and didn't wake until we bumped on the run way. Therefore very fast flight for me although I think it was about a nine hour flight. Got the shuttle into the Ilikai. It was now mid morning the start for another Wednesday on the 21st. On arrival at the Ilikai I went up to our room no. 1737 to see if our entry code had been loaded and it let me in. 🤗Then I went back down to tell PT. By now it was just after mid day and we weren't intitled to enter the unit until 3.00pm but as our code was in we helped ourselves. Didn't leave the unit until after 3.00pm just in case somebody came back. Nice clean unit with everything we need and more. Seemed a long day so we were asleep by 9.30pm. What a comfy bed super king and the mattress was about 18 inched deep. Slept really well to start our next  day.   22nd August.........All we did today was go to the supermarket to stock up and got a taxi back to the hotel with all our shopping. Too much to carry in this heat. After lunch I went down for a swim very nice water so warm. PT decided to give it a miss today. Looking forward to our first drink on the balcony later to watch another sunset go down while dinner will be cooking. Seeing it's Friday back home thought that we could have a drink even though it's Thursday here.!!!!! I won't complain.

Mirrors back of couch and beside the bed so makes it look bigger two PTs and two beds (don't think so).

Notice dishwasher great, haven't done any dishes yet just keep loading it up.

Looking out from inside

I found the coverings were a bit much on the couches stools and bed so put the bedspread in the cupboard.

This unit has a much bigger bathroom than the standard ones. Much nicer.

Our first  sunset. We noticed how much the sun is setting round in the west more this time of year as we usually don't come up here until the beginning of September. Just setting over land on the point instead of further round at sea to the left.
